Two compelling, dramatic, sinister yet playful, stories that are wrapped up in a nice package by director Greenwood. It is easy to see why, after just several minutes, why this release has a few worthy nominations in the upcoming AVN awards. Well written by Greenwood each story has a strong believability factor and is performed in a very honest and realistic way by the very talented cast of characters. The sexual connections that come along in each story are woven into the stories at just the right time and place to add even more believability to the scene.

In the opener Candice Dare and Rayveness are a married couple and Oliver Davis is employed by Candice, but there is an immediate twist to this three character play that will soon be revealed. Oliver has been doing a great job and Candice invites him to have dinner at her home. He’s a bit surprised and taken back but figures this may be a good step in getting a raise or promotion or both, so he accepts. Once he shows up at the very well appointed home he meets Candice’ wife, Rayveness who look absolutely stunning. As dinner begins Candice tells Oliver that while she is a lesbian and they are married, Rayveness is bisexual and at times needs what Candice cannot give her. So to satisfy the need Candice will bring home a guy for Rayveness to have fun with from time to time. Oliver is really shocked by this surprise announcement but is quickly put in a more relaxed mood by both ladies. What then takes place after dinner becomes a very explosive encounter between these two as they go at it hot and heavy with Rayveness leaving Oliver totally spent after their encounter. Did he get the promotion? He sure as hell got a raise!

In the second story Vanessa Vega and Nathan Bronson are a happily married couple with a bit of kink to their relationship. In the scene they are getting ready to welcome member of the HOa in their sub division. Nathan tells Vanessa to make sur she wears that special something. Have you ever known someone who either has a hard time, or refuses to grow up and move on with their life? That pretty much sums up the makeup of  our lead character in this coming of age reveal. Right from the open as we see Lucky Fate cruising about on his skateboard, music pumping away in the background, you know there is a lot of action to come in a variety of ways. One is his girlfriend Maya Woulfe, but that will take a while to develop. Then there is the ongoing feud he has with his father incredibly played by Tommy Pistol, one of adult’s most versatile and talented actors. Adding to the dynamics of this family is Vicki Chase as the mother in a solid role that offers up a lot more than just her passionate sexuality.

Throughout the film Lucky goes through a lot of rough patches both with friends, as well as family, but he is driven to succeed and also mature in the process. Along the way we get to enjoy others in this film in a variety of scenes both sexual and none sexual. There is a wild pool party scene that shows off Charlotte Sins to great advantage. The casting is spot on with Lucky Fate the perfect, and only choice for this role. Tommy Pistol once again proves his artistry as  an actor, Maya Woulfe plays his girlfriend with the perfect timidness that hides her real feelings, Vicki Chase once again scores big as the wife and mother and the rest of the cast fit just like a glove to bring the stark reality of this lifestyle into this epic production.

The AVN nominations were just announced and “Grinders” is up for a number of awards in a variety of categories, which is no surprise at all. The question is, just how many will this latest Ricky Greenwood gem walk away with? Whether you are into skateboarding, punk music, that 90’s lifestyle or not, this is a film you do not want to miss getting and enjoying. So do not pass it up.

Two compelling, dramatic, sinister yet playful, stories that are wrapped up in a nice package by director Greenwood. It is easy to see why, after just several minutes, why this release has a few worthy nominations in the upcoming AVN awards. Well written by Greenwood each story has a strong believability factor and is performed in a very honest and realistic way by the very talented cast of characters. The sexual connections that come along in each story are woven into the stories at just the right time and place to add even more believability to the scene.

In the opener Candice Dare and Rayveness are a married couple and Oliver Davis is employed by Candice, but there is an immediate twist to this three character play that will soon be revealed. Oliver has been doing a great job and Candice invites him to have dinner at her home. He’s a bit surprised and taken back but figures this may be a good step in getting a raise or promotion or both, so he accepts. Once he shows up at the very well appointed home he meets Candice’ wife, Rayveness who look absolutely stunning. As dinner begins Candice tells Oliver that while she is a lesbian and they are married, Rayveness is bisexual and at times needs what Candice cannot give her. So to satisfy the need Candice will bring home a guy for Rayveness to have fun with from time to time. Oliver is really shocked by this surprise announcement but is quickly put in a more relaxed mood by both ladies. What then takes place after dinner becomes a very explosive encounter between these two as they go at it hot and heavy with Rayveness leaving Oliver totally spent after their encounter. Did he get the promotion? He sure as hell got a raise!

In the second story Vanessa Vega and Nathan Bronson are a happily married couple with a bit of kink to their relationship. In the scene they are getting ready to welcome member of the HOa in their sub division. Nathan tells Vanessa to make sur she wears that special something. Everything is going accordingly once the guests arrive. That is until Nathan activates this special something he wanted Vanessa to wear. The fact is it is a remote controlled butt plug! Once it gets activated Vanessa starts playing with herself, making moans and murmurs. The looks on the guests faces are priceless and they can’t get out of their house fast enough. Well done segments with some excellent cinematography, lighting, pacing, eye catching visuals and believability. The cast for each segment was terrific and play their parts very well. It is easy to see why this release has a few AVN nominations. A great view for couples, so be sure and get hold of this award nominated DVD.

To complete this dark, noir styled creation are the talented Kiara Cole and Nathan Bronson in defining roles that bring this all out psychodrama and edge of your seat story full circle. There is no doubt in my mind, this is an adult film that can, and will, become an instant classic people will remember ten or more years from now.

The story revolves around a married couple, James and Bronson, whose relationship has literally fallen apart in every way. They are in debt and the bills just keep piling up. Even at the dinner table you can see she is bored and fed up while he seemingly doesn’t care. Then there is the mystery about the gun and notepad with names and dollar amounts. Avalon’s camera work and lighting in these scenes sets the dark mood and tone. Living in this big house practically alone, James puts out a sign that there is a room for rent at the house. Enter Seth Gamble as a very mysterious stranger both in looks and mannerisms. He comes to the house, sees the room and without hesitation and very little interaction rents the room and immediately takes up residence in the house.

Everything about this stranger seems mysterious, but who is he? What is his purpose? Why has he come to this particular house? As these scenes play out, once again the camera work, lighting and deliberate timing add to all the mystery. Day turns into night and Gamble is just laying back on the bed, a very pensive, wondering look about him. At this point the husband returns home and wastes no time getting his wife in the hallway and begins having sex with her in a very rough, intense way. She doesn’t fight back, gives in and then she gets turned on and this continues. Gamble can hear the noise from downstairs and still has that wondering look. The sex continues from the hallway to the living room and when it is all done and the husband has gotten what he wants, that’s it. No love, no romance, just getting laid and getting his rocks off.

Next morning the two men meet at the breakfast table and it is distantly cordial, but you can see it in their eyes that something is not right. After breakfast hubby is off on business. But it is monkey business as he is off to meet his mistress Kiara Cole, who turns out to be a lot more than that. After a long conversation later that night with the lonely wife, Gamble and James begin to interact and feel more comfortable around each other, but still there is a mystery that surrounds everyone that has yet to be revealed.

Someone is following the husband to his mistress’s place and sneaking around taking pictures of the two of them getting it on. This entire scene in the subdued noir style lighting and camera angles gives the sex play between these two an even more intense look and feel as they go at it with full abandon. After that, time passes and late at night Gamble is a bar having a drink when the stranger with the camera comes in. He sits down has a drink, says nothing and passes an envelope over to Gamble that contains photos of the husband and mistress. It is at this point where everything suddenly begins to take twists and turns, along with more sex, with some heavy dialogue and mysteries still to be unraveled. Then it will all culminate with an ending that you never saw coming. So, now I will leave it all up to you to find out just how this drama ends and the surprises it will bear.

This is a very compelling, dark, moody storyline and plot and could only be done in this noir style of yesteryear. The acting is tremendous and award worthy, the cinematography, lighting and settings are exceptional and award worthy. It just won our First Choice Award at our 30th Annual NightMoves Adult Awards Show this past Sunday. Everything about this film says award winner and should be a heavy contender at the AVN awards in January. James Avalon has created some fantastic films in his long career as a director and writer, and this may be his very best yet. Congratulations to everyone connected with the making of this instant classic. A job well done that adult film fans cannot afford to miss!
