WICKED PICTURES Sweeps the 30th Annual NightMoves Awards

Axel Braun, Seth Gamble, Kenzie Taylor & James Avalon Take the Night’s Top Prizes

LOS ANGELES, CA / TAMPA, CA – (OCTOBER 14, 2022) – Wicked Pictures is pleased to announce that it swept the 30th Annual NightMoves Awards Show, held October 9th in Tampa, Florida. The East Coast’s longest consecutively-running live adult awards show, the star-studded gala event saw Wicked emerge as the most-awarded studio of the night.

Legendary director and Wicked Head of Production Axel Braun’s AVN, XBIZ, and XRCO award-winning Wicked Comix blockbuster Black Widow XXX: An Axel Braun Parody was the evening’s most acclaimed feature, earning both Best Feature and Best Actor, the latter for three-time-consecutive AVN Best Actor and longtime Braun protégé Seth Gamble’s superlative performance as Deadpool, a role that he just recently reprised for the fourth time in the blockbuster Spideypool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody.

Gamble’s own debut as a director of narrative features, the darkly erotic Axel Braun-produced Deranged, received Best Actress in recognition of Kenzie Taylor’s mesmerizing lead performance. The overall excellence of director/cinematographer James Avalon’s twisty psychological thriller Dark Is The Night, also produced by Braun for the Wicked Noir imprint, was celebrated with one of the night’s top prizes, the coveted NightMoves First Choice Award. In his ‘Five Star Friday’ Editor’s Choice review of Avalon’s film, National Features and DVD Editor for NightMoves magazine Art Koch wrote, “There is no doubt in my mind, this is an adult film that can, and will, become an instant classic people will remember ten or more years from now…Everything about this film says award winner and it should be a heavy contender at the AVN awards in January…James Avalon has created some fantastic films in his long career as a director and writer, and this may be his very best yet.”

Regarding the success of Black Widow XXX: An Axel Braun Parody and Deranged, Gamble observed, “It was such an honor to win an award for portraying Deadpool in Black Widow XXX. It is an amazing experience every time I get to play the Merc with a Mouth and I’m very grateful for that. Most of all I can’t tell you the emotions that went through me to see my wife Kenzie Taylor win Best Actress for Deranged – not only did I put my heart and soul into this movie, but she did as well, more than anybody can really know. She went full method in it, and directing her was a complete pleasure.”

“I’m so thankful and happy to finally get the opportunity to win an award for acting,” added Taylor. “Winning Best Actress for Deranged really means a lot to me. Deranged was my husband’s first narrative series, and he not only directed, he also wrote the screenplay. It’s always an incredible feeling when your hard work is recognized. I really want to send a big thank you to Axel, the entire cast and crew, NightMoves, Seth and Wicked!”

Of his latest release for the Wicked Noir imprint, James Avalon said, “It is such an honor to have won the NightMoves First Choice award for Dark Is The Night. I had a wonderful time working with Axel, Seth, Kenna, and the rest of our cast and crew. I appreciate Axel letting me make a feature the way I envisioned it with such a great cast of wonderful actors, and I thank NightMoves for recognizing our hard work.”

“It was a fantastic evening,” enthused Braun. “The NightMoves people really pulled out all the stops for this milestone celebration, and it was an honor being there to support them. I was obviously thrilled to bring home two more Black Widow XXX awards, but I am ecstatic about Kenzie Taylor winning Best Actress for Deranged. Ever since she starred in Captain Marvel XXX, I have been blown away by her acting chops and her absolute commitment to every role she plays, and in this move she really proved how talented she is. And while Seth Gamble winning a Best Actor award may seem like routine nowadays, it is always a great feeling to see him recognized for the hard work and unmatched passion he consistently puts in everything he does. Last but not least, the trophy for James Avalon’s Dark is the Night is very special to me, not only because it’s my first award as a producer of a movie I didn’t direct, but also because it really is a truly incredible movie that James wrote, shot, and edited masterfully, and I am rightfully proud of it.”

Reflecting on the outstanding number of high-profile projects the company released in 2022, the four-time Director of the Year added: “The output we had at Wicked this year was phenomenal because I was lucky to have a fantastic crew that brought quality, enthusiasm, and positive energy on set. They are the unsung heroes of our industry and these awards truly belong to them.”

And in related news, Blake Blossom, currently garnering outstanding notices for her magnificent turn in Spideypool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody, earned Best Female Performer. Braun, Gamble, and Taylor were all present to accept their much-deserved trophies in person.

“I cannot thank you enough for making it to our 30th Annual Awards Show, and for bringing Seth and Kenzie with you,” Art Koch said to Braun after the show. “That was fantastic, and it was good to meet them. You are one very special man to all of us!”

Friday 5 Star Feature – Dark is The Night – Wicked Pictures

Dark is the Night – Wicked Pictures – Director – James Avalon – Cast – Kenna James, Kiara Cole, Seth Gamble, Nathan Bronson, Able Godshark

***** 5 stars

You have a multi award winning producer in Axel Braun, a veteran award winning writer/director in James Avalon at the helm of this production. Then add in Best Actress award winner Kenna James and multi award winning Best Actor Seth Gamble in the lead roles you know this will be something very special and filled with a lot of extraordinary performances and plot twists. To complete this dark, noir styled creation are the talented Kiara Cole and Nathan Bronson in defining roles that bring this all out psychodrama and edge of your seat story full circle. There is no doubt in my mind, this is an adult film that can, and will, become an instant classic people will remember ten or more years from now.

The story revolves around a married couple, James and Bronson, whose relationship has literally fallen apart in every way. They are in debt and the bills just keep piling up. Even at the dinner table you can see she is bored and fed up while he seemingly doesn’t care. Then there is the mystery about the gun and notepad with names and dollar amounts. Avalon’s camera work and lighting in these scenes sets the dark mood and tone. Living in this big house practically alone, James puts out a sign that there is a room for rent at the house. Enter Seth Gamble as a very mysterious stranger both in looks and mannerisms. He comes to the house, sees the room and without hesitation and very little interaction rents the room and immediately takes up residence in the house.

Everything about this stranger seems mysterious, but who is he? What is his purpose? Why has he come to this particular house? As these scenes play out, once again the camera work, lighting and deliberate timing add to all the mystery. Day turns into night and Gamble is just laying back on the bed, a very pensive, wondering look about him. At this point the husband returns home and wastes no time getting his wife in the hallway and begins having sex with her in a very rough, intense way. She doesn’t fight back, gives in and then she gets turned on and this continues. Gamble can hear the noise from downstairs and still has that wondering look. The sex continues from the hallway to the living room and when it is all done and the husband has gotten what he wants, that’s it. No love, no romance, just getting laid and getting his rocks off.

Next morning the two men meet at the breakfast table and it is distantly cordial, but you can see it in their eyes that something is not right. After breakfast hubby is off on business. But it is monkey business as he is off to meet his mistress Kiara Cole, who turns out to be a lot more than that. After a long conversation later that night with the lonely wife, Gamble and James begin to interact and feel more comfortable around each other, but still there is a mystery that surrounds everyone that has yet to be revealed.

Someone is following the husband to his mistress’s place and sneaking around taking pictures of the two of them getting it on. This entire scene in the subdued noir style lighting and camera angles gives the sex play between these two an even more intense look and feel as they go at it with full abandon. After that, time passes and late at night Gamble is a bar having a drink when the stranger with the camera comes in. He sits down has a drink, says nothing and passes an envelope over to Gamble that contains photos of the husband and mistress. It is at this point where everything suddenly begins to take twists and turns, along with more sex, with some heavy dialogue and mysteries still to be unraveled. Then it will all culminate with an ending that you never saw coming. So, now I will leave it all up to you to find out just how this drama ends and the surprises it will bear.

This is a very compelling, dark, moody storyline and plot and could only be done in this noir style of yesteryear. The acting is tremendous and award worthy, the cinematography, lighting and settings are exceptional and award worthy. It just won our First Choice Award at our 30th Annual NightMoves Adult Awards Show this past Sunday. Everything about this film says award winner and should be a heavy contender at the AVN awards in January. James Avalon has created some fantastic films in his long career as a director and writer, and this may be his very best yet. Congratulations to everyone connected with the making of this instant classic. A job well done that adult film fans cannot afford to miss!
