Jim Powers Gets 7 XBIZ Awards Noms for Directing, Series & Movies of Year

(Hollywood, CA) Multi-award-winning prolific director Jim Powers is one of the busiest and most interesting men in porn, and now he’s added seven more XBIZ Awards nominations to his countless accolades.

Last week, the 2024 XBIZ Awards nominations were announced, and over 1600 nominees received nominations in over 100 categories. And once again, Jim Powers made the list in a wide variety of categories. He snagged a Director the Year -Trans Movies nomination for Adult Time, GenderX, and Transfixed content. His Adult Time series Lez Be Bad received an All-Girl Series of the Year nom. He got three nominations for Web Series/Channel of the Year for three of his Adult Time series—Lez Be Bad, MILF Overload, and Accidental Gangbang. Jim also snagged two noms for two of his all-star GenderX titles, “Trans Am” and “Trans Honey Trap 2,” for Trans Movie of the Year.

“Thank you, XBIZ, for all these nominations. I’d love to win Director the Year -Trans Movies. It would mean a lot to me and the performers I work with on a daily basis,” says Jim Powers.

Jim Powers is one of the most prolific directors of our time who’s always been known for being controversial and once told Forbes he wants to be the Warren Buffett of porno. Growing up in the Valley in the 1970s, Jim was influenced by comic books, horror movies, fan magazines, and skateboarding, and in the 1980s, all he wanted to do was be a punk rocker and skateboarder. After graduating from Cal State Northridge, he became a stockbroker, a DVD distributor, and a part-time pornographer. 

In 1992, while gambling in Ballys in Vegas, Jim wandered into the AVN Awards and decided he could make a better movie than most people there for $5k—he and his friend put up $2500 each to make “The Hills Have Thighs.” Kevin Beachum of Midnight Pictures encouraged him to shoot amateurs on the beach, even though he had never even picked up a camera. While shooting on the beach in Malibu, his set was shut down, and he was hit with felony charges of pandering and conspiracy. He continued to shoot at private houses and swinger parties for Beachum and other companies to cover his legal bills. 

In 1993, a chance meeting with Jeff Mike of JM Productions led to history when the two joined forces, regularly pushing the limits of sex while still staying out of prison. Jim helped them roll out their bukkake line and invented American Bukkake—Downtown Larry Melrose from the Howard Stern Show was frequently on his sets. Jim had his own company, Powersville, and directed for legendary adult studios Heatwave, Mayhem, Sin City, Notorious, Immoral Productions, and Smash Pictures. Currently, he directs for Gender X, Devil’s Film, BiPhoria, Dogfart, Zero Tolerance, Adult Time, Transfixed, Fantasy Massage, and Addicted to Girls, and averages over 300 scenes per year.

With 50 performer credits and thousands of scenes as a director, Jim won Director of the Year (Body of Work) and Best Director – Non-Feature from the AVN Awards and was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2005. Oliver calls a staff and crew meeting to find out what’s going on. Jimmy decides to expose their adult action, but Alice gives Jimmy a pass and orders Max and Chloe to do sex prep. Paige sneaks into the bathroom with male lead Max (Nathan Bronson) and flirts with him before masturbating in front of him. Will Max blow his wad before the scene? You’ll just have to watch and see.

Bloomer Yang’s Delphine Films BTS on a Porn Set Series Drops 3rd Episode

(Hollywood, CA) Taiwanese-born award-winning adult film director Bloomer Yang’s latest series “Behind the Scenes” is at the midway point, with Episode 3 dropping last night.

If you think you know what happens on a porn set, think again. With his series “Behind the Scenes,” Bloomer Yang lets the Delphine Films members on set but gives his scripts a comedic twist. Shooting a porn while bringing the laughs is serious business. Episode 3, “The Production Assistant Seduces the Crew,” opens with production assistant Paige (Charlie Forde) flirting with Timmy (Tommy Pistol) and feeding him in the kitchen. He swears he won’t hook up with her, even though she’s aggressive and inappropriate. Jimmy (Will Pounder) tries to talk to assistant director Alice (Lulu Chu) and vows to show her he brings stability. Bloomer has a monologue about changing the script. Paige flirts with Jimmy, and Timmy catches them, resulting in a food fight. Paige gets hot from the fighting and offers to have sex with both at the same time…and she does. Alice and Bloomer fight about rewriting the script.

“The whole series could be part of my next standup routine. Being a comedian and a porn director has paid off with this series. I’m glad it’s been so well received and am excited for the site members to see the last three scenes,” says Bloomer Yang.
