IV (Interviewer): Your skin is as smooth as ever. What do you do every day to keep your skin looking so beautiful?

Shiraishi: Well, you can get by without spending a lot of time and effort on taking care of your face and body until you’re in your 20s, but that’s not the case from your 30s on. I think the most important thing is to keep your skin beautiful. The luster and clarity of your skin give the impression that it is full and exudes from within.

IV: It’s true that the clarity and luster of your skin has an appeal that transcends plastic beauty.

Shiraishi: That’s right. The impression you get from a quick glance is completely different. No matter how beautiful she is, if her skin is dull, she looks kind of lackluster. I think it’s the most important thing for beautiful skin. I believe that two main things are most important for beautiful skin. The first is to take care of the surface of your skin. The second is to take care of your skin from the inside out.

IV: So, can you tell me about the first one, how to take care of your skin from the surface?

Shiraishi: First of all, I always use a sheet pack every morning. I always take a shower in the morning. After showering, I put on the sheet pack and carefully apply facial lotion to my décolleté (the low neckline of a woman), chest, and buttocks. I also apply it to my face after removing the sheet pack.

IV: Do you use any particular products for those?

Shiraishi:  I don’t really have a favorite product that I use all the time. But if I had to pick one, I would say that up until I was in my 20s, even products that cost around 1,000 yen would get into my skin, but as soon as I got into my 30s, they started to pop (laughs)! So now I try to buy the slightly more expensive ones that cost around 5,000 yen.

IV: So you put the same lotion not only on your face but also on your breasts and buttocks?

Shiraishi: That’s right. Even my breasts are part of my face (laughs). Of course, the buttocks are also part of the face. For us adult film actresses, our breasts and buttocks are just as important as our faces. That’s why we use the same products for our face, décolleté, breasts, and buttocks.

IV: Is there anything you take care of on a daily basis in preparation for an AV shoot?

Shiraishi: I take a complete day off from about four days before the shooting date. I make appointments at beauty salons, nail salons, acupuncture clinics, physical therapy clinics, and esthetic clinics to make sure my skin is in tip-top shape for the shoot. Shiraishi: Yes. What I do to improve my mind is… not to accumulate stress. It may be impossible to not feel any stress in your daily life, but you can do it. If you are stressed out, your face will look darker and your skin will look dull.

IV: What is the most important thing you take care of in order to avoid stress?

Shiraishi: First of all, don’t compare yourself to others. Also, be more optimistic than you think you should be. When things don’t go my way, I try to be amused.

IV: What do you mean by “be amused?”

Shiraishi: Yes. I’m genuinely happy that I’ve met someone who doesn’t agree with me. I genuinely enjoy the fact that such a situation has occurred. I dig deeper to find out their responses, their pauses, and how they react to words. I want to be able to respond well to such people when I meet them again. Of course, you have to do this quietly and calmly, without hurting yourself in any way.

IV: Was it a book or someone’s words that made you aware of these things?

Shiraishi: No, it’s a method I learned from various experiences.

IV: What kind of experiences did you gain this from?

Shiraishi: I was at my best in junior high school when I was a junior talent. Then, in high school, I had an experience that pushed me to the bottom, and I changed my mind.

IV: What happened to you in high school?

Shiraishi: I went to a high school that had a performing arts course, and my drama teacher was very strict. One day, in front of about 100 students from the first to third year of the course, he gave me a hard time and said, “You’re too confident that you can do it.” My pride was torn apart, and my self-confidence was shattered.

IV: But you didn’t let that stop you, did you?

Shiraishi: I’m a very competitive person, and if I had time to be frustrated, I would have changed myself right now. IV (Interviewer): In the first part of the interview, I asked you about your most memorable works, and I heard that you have another one.

Aoi: This one (While My Boss Was Away On A Business Trip, I Fucked The Shit Out Of The Boss’s Wife For 3 Whole Days. Tsukasa Aoi). This was also the first time I met the director of this film (Kitorune Kawaguchi). It’s simple in content, but it would go on to sell really well.

IV: Is there anything that comes to mind?

Aoi: The director was very good at shooting dramas. I thought he had a completely different way of filming dramas from what I knew at the time, and I was feeling the response as I shot. I heard that he was a director who hadn’t shot many dramas at S1, but took this opportunity to start shooting more often.

IV: This also became a series. Aoi, you’re the first.

Aoi: Yes, I am. Maybe it’s because of the success of this film, but I’ve been working with the director Kitorune a lot now, and the way he directs is really fresh. The things he teaches me just flow into me. Moreover, when I tried it, it looked completely different, and that was conveyed to everyone, and they appreciated it.

IV: Aoi-san, even if it’s your first time working with a director, you show great power when you synchronize.

Aoi: That’s right! That happens quite often. I felt it at this time as well. If I don’t go beyond the limits of what I can do by 20% or so, I don’t feel that the film will sell. But it’s very difficult to go beyond the limit.

IV: Of course. Normally, you can’t do that.

Aoi: When I feel like I’ve achieved that, I feel that I’ve achieved something. If the director is good at getting it out, I can do it. This time was no different. I guess there’s such a thing as a fateful encounter or chemistry.

IV: I will look forward to your first time as a director.

So the fact that she told me means that I can do more. I thought it meant that she thought I could do better.

IV: I’d like to ask you what you meant by that…

Aoi: It’s not like I was trying to end my own life.

IV: Heee! Please don’t scare me out of the blue!

Aoi: To put it bluntly, I couldn’t imagine myself from the age of 30, I thought I could express myself up to the age of 29, but I honestly didn’t know how I would express myself from the age of 30.

IV: So turning 30 was a special milestone for you.

Aoi: I’ve always lived my life thinking that I was 20, 21, 22 (laughs). I had a lot of anxiety and thoughts about what to do. I felt like I was living my life without a proper place to belong.

IV: Even though you’ve been doing so well for so long?

Aoi: Of course I had a place, but I was making it. Steadily. But my feelings were still the same, and then I asked myself, “What am I going to do from here?” I’ve been able to do a lot of things, and I’ve been able to make a place for myself, and I’ve been able to start living again. You know?

IV: After reading that message, even the smiling photos seemed to have a sense of greatness.

Aoi: When I first talked to the photographer, Mr. Kouki Nishida, before the shoot, I told him that I had thought about dying at times. We decided to shoot the film as if we were going to die, so we went to places where we could feel death, such as the snow, the ocean, and the top of a cliff.

IV: So you imagined that you had a near-death experience through the photoshoot and then came back to reality?

Aoi: That’s right. With the photographer, Mr. Nishida, he takes pictures with all his soul (laughs).

IV: To be honest, I think I saw something amazing, or maybe I saw something I shouldn’t have seen. It was the first time for me to get that kind of feeling from a photo book.

IV: Did you think so deeply about it from the time of your debut?

Aoi: No, I wasn’t thinking about it at the time, but I was thinking, “I’m definitely going to make it to the top.” That’s why I’ve always thought that I wouldn’t be upset or intimidated by the slightest thing and that I wouldn’t be satisfied.

IV: Always be ambitious.

Aoi: Of course, there were times when things didn’t go well. There were times when I was stagnant. I was also troubled.

Interview: Tsukasa Aoi

IV (Interviewer): I was going to ask you about the 10th anniversary, but then I realized it was your 11th anniversary.

Aoi: Oh, so it’s already been eleven years… (laughs) The year since the tenth anniversary has flown by.

IV: I’d like to ask you to look back on some of your past works.

Aoi: But I said, “I want to be able to show myself, so I don’t want any of that. If there were other staff or cameras, I would end up acting or creating “Tsukasa Aoi,” so this time, I wanted it to be just the two of us and only one camera.

IV: That’s quite a request you made!

Aoi: At first, I was really stopped. From all directions (laughs). Even the producers. They said, “It’s impossible, there are no other cameras.”

IV: I can understand how you feel, Aoi, but it’s natural that people around you are against it. It would be terrible if there were any camera problems.

Aoi: But the main theme and purpose of this project was to “show myself”. So, not being conscious of the camera was the issue for me.

IV: I see. It’s been more than 10 years since you were a celebrity, so it’s only natural to have a camera. But it must have been difficult for you when you actually tried it?

Aoi: It was tough. I even cried afterward.

IV: What? You cried?

Aoi: Yes. It was the first time for the director not writing a script. So there was no script at all, just a rough flow of the play. It was like a trip with the director, just the two of us. Normally, we would have to decide in detail where and how many times we would have sex, and what positions we would use, but there were no such restrictions. Aoi: My first thought was that it was fine to shoot a Gonzo, but there was no point in doing a made-up Gonzo movie. That’s when I decided to break new ground in Gonzo as well.

IV: And you cried when it was over?

Aoi: I felt like I had done it all, and I felt relaxed afterward. I didn’t want to “expose myself.” I just did what I was told. I don’t mind doing what’s in the script. “I don’t want to show my true colors.” I had that feeling somewhere in the back of my mind. But this is also the first time I’ve shown it.

IV: It’s a complete burnout. When you hear that, it changes the way you look at the film.

Aoi: I think that’s why the director was probably exhausted. In the last scene, when we got to the station and say, “See you later,” he looked pretty sad. After that, I got in my manager’s car and drove home. It’s really non-fiction.

IV: I’d like to see more new aspects of you in the future.

Aoi: I’m thinking of doing many more things. For example, I’m thinking of doing a gravure for “Weekly Post”…

IV: What does your agency mean to you, Aoi?

IV: Did you find the large group gravure different from shooting alone?

Aoi: I took on the challenge in a normal and relaxed way. I said “I want to do this,” and that’s how this project came about. This is 10 years of “Tsukasa Aoi” itself. It’s a memory of Eight Man, but it’s also a memory of me. I think that’s how this work turned out.

IV: It all started with Aoi’s 10th anniversary, didn’t it?

Aoi: Yes. That’s why I think it’s different from everyone’s feelings, but I still wanted to do it for the first and last time.

IV: It’s really spectacular, isn’t it? Who did the direction?

Aoi: Basically, the cameraman, Mr. Kouki Nishida, but everyone naturally stood in their own places. I was in the middle, taking pictures all the time. For me, it was over the 10th anniversary. I think it’s a milestone for me. It’s not like I’m closing down Tsukasa Aoi, but I felt that if I did this, I could end it comfortably when the time came to end it…

IV: It’s not a retirement announcement, is it?

Aoi: It’s one of the ways to make memories of Eight Man. I think everyone came here with different feelings, but for me, one of the memories is that we all shared the same feelings. It was fun! That’s all I can say.

Aoi: It was more fun for me to do this. I was so happy afterward that I cried a little.

Aoi: Mr. Nishida has been active in gravure for a long time, but this is actually his first photo exhibition. So there’s really a lot to see. I can’t tell you everything yet, but they’re thinking of having larger than life-size photos, a space where you can take photos, and many other things. I’m also planning to be there.

IV: We’re going to meet Aoi!

Aoi: Yes. In a way, it’s also a message for women.

IV: A lot of your female fans are very passionate, aren’t they?

Aoi: That’s right. They’re thinking about me.

IV: Isn’t it hard to carry such feelings?

Kano: It was hot today, so I wanted to wear something cool. I could have worn this dress with a t-shirt underneath, but I decided to wear it on its own today and put a jacket over it to keep out the sun.

Kano: Yes! I bought my last wallet by myself, and I used it for about three years. But I heard that you get better luck with money if you get a wallet from someone else, so I wanted to get my next wallet as a gift. It seems that the office remembered me telling them that story. I’m so grateful!

Actually, I have the ambition to create my own accessory brand… (laughs). I know it’s a long way off, but I’d love to do it someday! This has been my dream since before I became an AV actress!
